Blue Tara Trilogy: Princess Tara Chronicles

★★★★★ Fast and Feathery

Michael Ostrogorsky lives in Seattle, Washington with a flock of parrots and a coffee business and apparently a very creative mind to turn out this wild and woolly (or, more appropriately, fast and feathery) yarn about meeting a parrot who turns out to be so much more than he ever imagined (that happens to most of us who turn over our lives to an avian tyrant) and leads him through several apocalyptic turns, all firmly rooted in real-life Seattle. Three, even four dimensions are not enough for him and Princess Tara, who is, of course, just a hyacinth macaw (yeah, sure), as they ramble through Vajrayana Buddhism, shamanism, and even a bit of contemporary politics. I have never tasted his coffee, but after reading this yarn, I say, "I'll have what he's having!"

Parrots and Witches; Or, Love. Desire. Ambition. Faith. Without Them, Life Is So Simple, Believe Me

I closed my eyes. I could feel Jean’s breasts press into my chest. Loose strands of her long flowing brunette hair tickled my nose. Her breathes, initially short and rapid, slowed to a relaxed warm pulse against my cheek. Her clothes reeked of sweat infused with the stench of fired gunpowder. I could still hear the last echoes of machine gun fire fade across the darkened walls of the enclosure like the staccato clicking of a tap dancer’s shoes slowly drifting off a stage.

NEW SECOND EDITION of the caffeinated spine-tingling head-lopping conclusion to the Blue Tara Trilogy, Book Three of the Princess Tara Chronicles, now available in a dead tree edition from Blue Parrot Books. Bigger and Better than ever!

One Foot in Sea, and One on Shore, To One Thing Constant Never

 Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more.
Men were deceivers ever,
One foot in sea, and one on shore,
To one thing constant never.
Then sigh not so, but let them go,
And be you blithe and bonny,
Converting all your sounds of woe
Into hey nonny, nonny.

Sing no more ditties, sing no more
Of dumps so dull and heavy.
The fraud of men was ever so
Since summer first was leafy.
Then sigh not so, but let them go,
And be you blithe and bonny,
Converting all your sounds of woe
Into hey, nonny, nonny.

She Was Not Quite What You Would Call Unrefined

A tale of love. And love lost. Coming to Smashwords and Amazon this Memorial Day weekend!

Love is a smoke raised with the fume of sighs;
Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes;
Being vexed, a sea nourished with loving tears.
What is it else? A madness most discreet,
A choking gall, and a preserving sweet.

Romeo. Romeo and Juliet, Act One, Scene One, 1599

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

William Butler Yeats, The Second Coming, 1919

Strange Case of the Parrot That Refused to Talk

As I near the completion of my latest fantasy novel I'm looking forward to my next project, a noir detective novel featuring a World War II era burlesque dancer famous on both sides of the Atlantic named Yvette Dare. Performing from the late 1930s until at least 1950, she had a strip tease act that featured her scarlet macaw parrot named Einstein taking off her clothes to the beat of music.

Not only was Yvette Dare a parrot person, she apparently also was a history buff and it was her reading of Greek history that supposedly gave her the idea for the act.

What a great focus for a noir novel. A World War II stripper with a parrot and a love of history. Of course, this being World War II, there will be Nazis and Nazi gold involved, and secret documents that could change the course of history.

May 16, 1939 issue of the entertainment magazine PIC, costing a whole dime!
